Desiderare

“And so it is, that both the devil and the angelic spirit present us with objects of desire to awaken our power of choise.”

Rumi

The word desire comes from the latin word desiderare which means to long for, feel the want of, to miss or regret.

Desire is a strong emotion, several changes take place in your body when you are in a desiring state. You can see it in a person’s attitude and behaviour, in their facial expressions, the way they look at a particular object or person and you can also hear it in the way they talk !

There are desires of the flesh and desires of the heart. There are desires able to close the gap, others just destroy and tear apart.

Desire can be associated with feelings of unease aswell as ease and pleasantness ! It all depends on how you (re)act to it : how does the desire make you feel and where exactly do you put your focus on ?

Imagine you are in love with a girl, but you are too shy to make a move… as you are walking the street today, you see her hand in hand with another boy…

What kind of feelings would rise up within ? How would you react ? What would you think ? Would there be resentment, hate, despice towards the boy or towards both ? Would you curse him ? Would you think bad thoughts about him even though you have never met ?

Would you be filled with sadness ? Why not me ? It should have been me ! What am I doing wrong ? I am such a failure in love, I am such a loser in life…

Or would you become obsessed by evil thoughts and turn into a predator ? You anxiously want to be in control, you wanna take what you want no matter what. You prey upon the girl and see her as something to conquer and to possess !

What do you perceive ? What do you believe ? Does it attract the things you desire or does it repell all these things from you ?

Desire can be the catalyst for growth, it can provide you the necessary fuel for change but a burning desire can consume you if you don’t fuel that fire with the right intentions !

So tell me, what is it that you truly desire ?

Superstitions

When you believe in things that you don’t understand
then you suffer. Superstition ain’t the way…

Stevie Wonder

I once read a story about a family that seemed to be doomed. All the males in that particular family passed away before they turned 55 ! Imagine being a boy or a man in that family having such a future prospect ! Imagine the conversations they must have had at family reunions…

Some family members called it bad luck, others called it fate. Some believed their family had been cursed or that someone had put a spell on them.

We often don’t realize that our life situations are caused by our beliefs, that our superstitions can turn into self-fulfilling prophecies and that our convictions can harm or even kill us !

We all know someone whose sudden death surprised us because we thought they probably were the healthiest person in the world, they took care of their body and were moderate in life.

We often sabotage ourselves : we focus on the things we don’t want or take action with the wrong intentions, we let fear constantly be our motivator and advisor !

We put conditions and expectations on things that haven’t happened yet, this way attracting them in our reality !

“I eat healthy because I don’t want to get cancer…” “I don’t do that because I am afraid I am going to fail…”

“I must lose weight before I lose my partner…If he continues to behave like this, I’m going to have a heart attack !”

We believe that certain objects or people are the cause of our good fortune or misfortune, our good luck or our bad luck.

“A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.”

Groucho Marx

These beliefs keep us trapped in an endless loop, a repetitive cycle of disaster until we break the pattern, until we consciously release our belief in them.

It is our belief that creates expectancy in our subconscious mind and attracts a “lucky” or a “bad” situation.

No one has really power over us unless we believe they do ! No outside forces are needed to put us back where we belong : in the driver’s seat of our life !

Do not suffer from these superstitions. Be positively fearless ! Have faith and believe in yourself !

Behind every great woman…

“Behind every great man, there is a great woman.”

Even if you are not married, or not currently in any romantic or intimate relationship, don’t think this message isn’t for you. Keep reading because…there are certainly other people who you can turn to for support, help, guidance when you need it.

What about a good friend to share your dreams with, a sister or brother to hold your ideal with, a parent or an uncle who comforts and calms you when you are struggling, a teacher or mentor who sees and believes your vision ?

“No man can fail if some one person sees him successful”

Don’t think you need a lot of supporters to get you on the path of success, happiness or recovery. One good supporting friend or relative is all you need.

When you become too emotionally attached to your affairs, when you come too close with them, fears and doubts can come creeping in. You start questionning yourself and your belief in your vision starts wavering.

The friend or “healer” sees cleary the success, prosperity or health and never wavers because he is not close to the situation. He is more able to see and hold on to your ideal.

Many great man owned their success to a wife, a sister or a friend who believed in him and held without wavering to the perfect design in mind. That is the true meaning of Jesus’ words :

“Where two or more gather in My Name, there I AM with them.”
